Labels given to us and why we need to be rid them
Do you feel you are just fulfilling certain labels for the benefit of others? Do you know deep down you are so much more?
Did you answer yes? Then now is the time to ask yourself a question – Who are YOU, really?
This question is something that you may need to look inward for and it may be challenging to recognise your true self under all the layers, but I promise you – it’s worth the journey.
How often as a woman do you play small?
How often do you conform to every else’s persona of you?
How often do you live your life with everyone else‘s life but your own in mind?
All too often because you’re scared of being judged, because you’re scared of fitting in, because you don’t think you’re good enough, because you might not be accepted?
As a woman you can become so many things to so many people and you can easily be lost in the collection of your personas.
How many labels (personas) do you think you have?
Here are a few examples:
Daughter
Mother
Sister
Friend
Wife
Teacher
Career Woman
Carer
Volunteer
The PTA lady
Cook
Cleaner
Nurse
Housekeeper
Housewife
“so an so’s Mum”
The list I’m sure could be added to with so many more.
How do those labels make you feel? Where are YOU in all of those?
Let’s turn this around a little now.
How do YOU see yourself
Not as label, not for anyone else’s needs, wants or desires, but for YOU.
Have a think about who YOU really are, not what others define you as.
Some examples may be;
Singer
Writer
Sports lover
Creative
Inventive
Avid reader
Nature lover
Animal lover,
the list is endless so think about what sets your soul on fire.
Yes, they could also be described as labels, but I see them more as an embodiment, a feeling of the true essence of you, rather than a word that suits others.
Do you do any of these things?
How often? Do you do it when you like to do it, or when it suits others?
Do your family allow YOU to take time for yourself?
Do they know you are just as important as they are and if your cup isn’t full, how do they expect you to fill theirs?
If not, why not? No time? No money? No childcare? Working all the time?
Now is the time to be rid of those labels, be proud of YOU and be alive, living your life to it’s fullest.
Sure, be a part of all these aspects of your life, be with the ones you love, enjoy being a nurturer, a romantic, a maverick, whatever suits you but remember to be you along the way and really enjoy the ride.
Each and every one of us is amazing so share that amazing, allow the world to see you, now is the time of the feminine rising, give yourself permission to set yourself free from being a conformist.
