New Year, New You?
Does New Year, New You work for your story?
As we pass into 2023 and begin a new calendar year, remember it is just the marking of an event in a certain timeframe, of which we have inherited from previous generations.
In our human existence, we feel the need to mark events in a timeline, but time is just an interpretation. When we experience time, it can feel long, short, quick or endless and as spiritual beings time is more of a feeling of our here and now, with no beginning or end.
We cry out for the need to rationalise, give meaning to, rather than just be, in the moment, whatever that moment may entail or what is occurring.
Whether awakened, at the start or middle of your spiritual journey or perhaps yet to awaken, take time – not the governed type, but the feeling – and truly be who you are meant to be.
Not as a label (see my “Label” blog for more on that), not for anyone else’s needs, wants or desires, but for YOU.
Resolutions
You don’t have to have “resolutions” or take on a “new year, new you” as your journey is a continual one flourishing with each passing breathe we take. Our passing of time is ours alone, each of us unique.
I’m not saying of course that new years resolutions are wrong in any way, if they work for you then go get ‘em, but I for one feel more renewed in Spring when new life bursts out and the world re-energises, each new chapter of my book of life being written when it’s written, no pressure, no timeline.
So if you don’t feel aligned to jump on the new year bandwagon, then simply don’t. Just be you, for you and life your best life, your way.
Time for reflection
Perhaps instead take the time after Christmas, when the excitement fades, it’s still somewhat dark outside (if you are in the Northern hemisphere) and things are quiet for a while, to reflect on what feeds your soul, how you can be happy, healthy and free, topped with a sprinkle of joy. You may have things come up or come to light, that you get to work through as sometimes we go through the dark to get to the light but know this is ok.
