What does Happiness mean to you?
Happiness comes in many guises.
In our personality, our actions, our environment, our beliefs.
What makes one person happy, has no effect on another. What we need to fill our happiness bucket varies enormously!
Can you honestly think in this exact moment what makes you happy?
Go on, think of just one thing. I bet you can’t, I bet you can only think of MORE than one thing!
On the other hand, are you struggling to think of ANYTHING? Then here’s some suggestions:
The sun on your face on a cold winter’s day
Being brought a cup of tea in bed
The sound of a child’s laughter
Being bought flowers
Receiving a compliment
Having a bubble bath at 3pm in the afternoon
Hearing from a friend
Reading a good book
All very simple things you’ll notice. They aren’t things like owning a yacht, a big house, a sports car, winning the lottery. They are all the things that fill your soul with joy. You can have all the material wealth in the world, but without things that simply bring you joy in the moment, can you ever truly find your happy?
Let me tell you a story. A few years ago, I had everything I thought I wanted yet I just didn’t feel happy. I kept telling myself that when I got the bigger house, the qualification, the bigger income, basically anything that I didn’t currently have and never felt worthy of having (that’s a whole other rabbit hole for another day!) and I was never truly happy on a day to day basis.
Then things changed.
I discovered the Law of Attraction
The practice of gratitude and all the others wonderful practices that the universe had sent my way. I was ready to receive, and I absolutely did – in spades!
It was a transformational discovery in that I had almost all that I needed, right there or then in my life and I didn’t need all the things I thought I did.
I was living up to others’ expectations and their standards of life, completely not mine! I was people pleasing to the nth degree and it was time for a change. It was my life, my time, not theirs and this epiphany was life changing.
It hasn’t been a breeze to get here but I love being happy, I love sharing the happy and most importantly I AM happy.
I see the happy in all the small things as well as the big things.
I see the happy in the love I have for my wonderful husband and kids
I see the happy in my beautiful home and the comfort it affords me
I see the happy when I am out in nature and I marvel at it’s awesomeness
I see the happy in my children’s laughter
I see the happy in the little touches – the bunch of daffies in the table, the cuppa my hubby brings me in bed in the morning
I see the happy in my friends when we can share our lives without judgement.
There are so many more examples, but most of all I see the happy in myself.
You too could transform what happiness means to you and live your best life, filled with joy freedom and love.
