When did you last smile?
When did you last smile? Is it something you do very often, or not very much at all?
Did you know, that smiling is an instant mood booster and a way to feel JOY in yourself, even if no-one else is around!
In the modern age of everyone looking down into their phones, it can be so easy to forget to the simple things, like smiling.
As we go about our everyday, there are so many things that can trigger the corners of our mouth to lift up, even slightly.
It could be the sound of children laughing, the flowers blooming in the pot outside the back door, simply the sun shining and feeling warm on our faces.
The sight of a friend, a loved one, a pet, whatever the cause of your last smile, can you remember what it was? Do you even remember smiling?
Perhaps not, but I’m sure that you can remember the feeling that it gave you, like a warm fuzzy glow wrapping itself around you.
Smiling is a powerful reaction when we are happy, glad, amused, in love.
So why does smiling boost your mood?
Not only does it use less muscles than frowning and hence less wrinkles – bonus right? but when we smile we release chemicals in our brain which lead to better health overall.
Endorphins – a natural pain reliever
Serotonin – a natural mood booster and anti-depressant
Dopamine – a natural feel good hit
All natural, all easy to give yourself on a daily basis and who doesn’t want a happy hit!
How often have you walked past someone and they smile at you – do you naturally smile back?
How did you feel in that moment? Do you think “oh that’s nice, they smiled at me, I feel special”? Chances are you then smile at the next person too because the ripples of happiness and higher vibration spread easily – and just as easily as the hurt and the hate so why don’t we switch it up and make a change in the world?
Creating a ripple of love
Are you game to join me and create a ripple of love and happiness? How far can we reach?
If you aren’t likely to see another face for a while, smile at yourself in the mirror! Yes, you might feel a bit of a wally at first but hey, if you laugh doing it then you’ll only increase those natural hits and feel even better!
Change takes decision and that one decision between a frown or a smile can set your destiny off to a good start…
