No, you really haven’t lost the plot!
Have you ever felt as though you really don’t know your backside from your elbow?
We’ve all been there right? I feel pretty safe in the knowledge that it’s not just me, so be rest assured that no, it’s not just you either!
Sometimes we have fluctuations in our daily experiences that can make us feel utterly bonkers, let me give you a few examples…
Where the hell did I put my keys?
What did I come upstairs for?
Saying every child’s name until you get the right one….yes that really does happen even when there’s only two of them (sometimes I resort to “the boy one” or “the girl one”).
Feeling like you have no clue what day of the week it is.
You simply just want to cry, curl up under the duvet and tell the world to £”(# off!
You are doing 50 things at once that actually nothing ever gets done.
I could go on…
These things can happen to us all at some point in our day, our week, our year but when it feels like a constant and you have no escape from it, that’s when it’s time to take a moment, recognise that it doesn’t have to be this way and that making a few small changes in your life can have an impact and start to make a change to your everyday.
And there’s no reason that those around you can’t be a part of the process too.
Why am I like this? Why have I lost the plot?
Firstly, really look inward and decide what it is that’s making you feel that way.
Hormones? Juggling too many plates? Peer/Family pressure? People pleasing?
Once you can identify what the trigger is, start to take steps to improving the situation.
Maybe spend more time in nature, have a bubble bath at 2pm – you are allowed to!
How’s your everyday diet looking? Lots of processed foods, sugar and not enough balance and nutrition – I’m not saying you can only eat broccoli 24/7 but eating healthily really does improve the mind and how you feel in yourself.
Can you delegate a task or two, to colleagues, a family member, as a friend for help?
Is there something you can say No to rather than being everything to everyone?
Spend some time away from the noise, and see where your mind is full of the chatter, the demands, the expectations that you can, with time and a little effort, free yourself from.
You aren’t being unhelpful, unkind, uncaring – all the things your mind monkeys think you’d be or that others might label you when they are getting their bidding done for them, you are simply setting boundaries and allowing yourself to breathe.
It’s amazing how wonderful you’ll feel when you start remembering why you went up those stairs…
